Seller guidelines
What good looks like when you list on RentNShine — how to photograph and describe an outfit, how fast to respond, how to handle returns, and where the lines are. Sellers who follow these get more bookings and almost never see a dispute.
Who can sell on RentNShine
Two kinds of seller, one standard of accuracy. Whichever you are, the details you give us have to be true and current.
Individual sellers
You must be 18 or over and listing outfits you personally own and have the right to rent out. Your contact details and payout account need to be accurate and yours.
Business sellers
Registered boutiques and studios list as business sellers and provide valid business and tax details, including an NTN. This affects how your payouts and invoicing are handled.
Verified contact
Renters are trusting a stranger with a real event. A verified phone number and a complete profile materially improve how often your listings convert.
Describing an outfit honestly
A renter is committing to a fixed event date on the strength of your photographs and measurements. Almost every dispute on the platform traces back to a listing that promised something the parcel did not contain.
Photograph the actual garment
Natural light, plain background, and shots of the front, back and any detail work. Never use the designer’s campaign images or a photo of a similar piece — renters treat that as a bait and switch, and it is.
Measure, do not guess
List bust, waist, hip and length in inches, plus how much the piece can be let out. Sizing disputes are the single most common avoidable complaint on the platform.
Disclose every flaw
Existing marks, repairs, missing beads, a stiff zip — write it down and photograph it. A disclosed flaw almost never causes a dispute; an undisclosed one almost always does.
Say what is included
Dupatta, inner, belt, jewellery, garment bag — spell out exactly what ships. If something in the photo is not included, say so in the description.
Price the deposit sensibly
The deposit should reflect what genuine damage would actually cost you, not the full retail price of the outfit. Deposits that read as punitive suppress bookings.
Set a realistic preparation window
Buffer days are blocked around every booking so you can clean and inspect. The default is 5 days either side. Set your own if your dry cleaner is slower — do not under-set it and then run late.
Once the bookings start coming in
Speed and condition are the two things renters actually judge you on.
Answer bookings quickly
A confirmed order is waiting on you to accept or decline. Renters are usually booking against a fixed event date, so sitting on a request costs you the booking and hurts your ranking.
Ship within the SLA
Once you mark an order ready to ship you have a 48-hour window to hand it to the courier. Miss it and the system can cancel the order and refund the renter automatically.
Decline honestly, do not stall
If the outfit is unavailable, damaged, or you cannot make the dates, decline. The renter is refunded in full and can rebook elsewhere in time. That is a far better outcome than a late cancellation.
Send it clean and ready
Professionally cleaned, pressed, repaired, and packed so it survives the courier. The condition it arrives in is the review you get.
Inspect returns promptly
You get a short inspection window when a return arrives. Check it and close it out — the renter’s deposit is held until you do, and unresolved inspections escalate.
Claim damage with evidence
Dated photos of the outfit before dispatch and after return, and a realistic repair cost. Claims without evidence do not survive review. Normal wear from one evening is not damage.
The short version
If you remember nothing else from this page, remember this list.
Do this
- Keep your availability calendar current — every stale date is a booking you will have to decline
- Photograph an outfit before dispatch and immediately on return; it is your entire evidence base
- Reply to renter messages in-app, so support can see the thread if something goes wrong
- Update the listing when an outfit is altered, repaired or its condition changes
- Set the deposit to the realistic cost of repair, not the retail price
- Price rental fees against comparable listings in your city
Avoid this
- Listing counterfeit or replica pieces as designer originals
- Using stock, campaign or other sellers’ photographs
- Taking payment outside RentNShine, or asking a renter to — it voids every protection for both of you
- Sharing personal contact details to move the deal off-platform
- Listing prohibited, illegal or unhygienic items
- Accepting a booking you already know you cannot fulfil
What is never allowed
These are not style preferences. Listings that breach them are removed, and repeat breaches end the seller account.
Counterfeit goods
Replica pieces presented as designer originals, or any branding you are not entitled to use.
Illegal items
Anything unlawful to sell, rent or possess under Pakistani law.
Misleading listings
Photographs that are not the item, invented measurements, or hidden damage.
Off-platform payment
Directing a renter to pay you outside RentNShine. It strips both sides of refunds, deposits and dispute cover.
Items you do not own
Listing someone else’s outfit without the right to rent it out.
Unhygienic condition
Anything dispatched unclean, unrepaired, or in a condition you would refuse yourself.
Seller questions
What does RentNShine charge?
A commission is deducted from each completed order before payout; the rate applicable to your account is shown in your seller dashboard and governed by the Seller & Rental Agreement. Listing an outfit is free.
When do I get paid?
Payment is collected from the renter up front and held by the platform. It is released to your payout account after the order completes — that is, after the rental ends and the return inspection has closed. Holding funds through the rental is what lets us honour refunds and dispute outcomes.
What happens if a renter damages my outfit?
Raise a damage claim on the order with photographic evidence from before dispatch and after return, plus a realistic repair cost. It is reviewed against the renter’s response and settled against the security deposit. Ordinary wear from a single wearing is not a claim.
Can I cancel an order after accepting it?
You can decline while the order is in the confirmed stage, which refunds the renter in full. After you mark it ready to ship the order locks and you are expected to fulfil it. Repeated late cancellations affect your standing on the platform.
Do I have to offer courier delivery?
No. You can offer local pickup instead, where the renter collects in person and the handover is confirmed with a one-time code. Many sellers offer both.
Why are days blocked around my bookings?
Those are preparation buffer days — 5 by default, or whatever you set — reserved for cleaning, repair and inspection between renters. They are not lost income; they are what stops you double-booking an outfit that is still at the dry cleaner.
What gets a listing removed?
Counterfeits, illegal items, misleading descriptions, stolen photography, and anything that misrepresents what the renter will actually receive. The platform can remove listings at its discretion under the Agreement.
This page is the plain-language version. The binding terms are in the Seller & Rental Agreement, and where the two could be read differently, the Agreement governs. For anything else, get in touch at info@rentnshine.com.
