Frequently asked questions
Everything renters and sellers ask most often — booking and dates, payments and deposits, delivery and returns, listing your own outfits, and keeping your account safe.
Renting an outfit
How does renting on RentNShine work?
You pick an outfit and your rental dates, pay at checkout, and the seller confirms. The outfit reaches you by courier or local pickup, you wear it for the dates you booked, then you send it back. The seller inspects it and your security deposit is released. The full walkthrough is on our How Renting Works page.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can. Popular pieces get booked out around wedding season, and every booking also reserves preparation days either side, so the calendar fills faster than it looks. Booking early also leaves room to sort out sizing questions with the seller before your event.
Why are some dates blocked even though nobody is renting then?
Those are preparation buffer days. We hold 5 days either side of every booking by default so the outfit can be cleaned, repaired and inspected between renters. Some sellers set a longer window if their cleaning turnaround is slower.
Can I try the outfit on before booking?
That is between you and the seller. Sellers who offer local pickup will sometimes agree to a fitting. Ask through in-app chat — and keep the conversation there rather than moving to a personal number.
What if the outfit does not fit?
Check the listed measurements before booking and ask the seller if anything is unclear. If what arrives does not match the listing, report it from the order page immediately — before your event, with photos. That timing matters a great deal if it turns into a claim.
Can I rent more than one outfit?
Yes. Each outfit is its own order with its own dates, seller and delivery, so they are confirmed and delivered independently of one another.
Can I buy an outfit instead of renting it?
Some sellers list pieces for sale as well as for rent. Where a listing is available to buy, the option is shown on the product page.
Payments, deposits and refunds
When am I charged?
At checkout, when you place the order. The money is held against the order rather than passed straight to the seller, and is released to them after the rental completes. That hold is what makes refunds and dispute outcomes actually enforceable.
What is the security deposit?
A refundable amount some sellers require, held against the order and returned once the return inspection clears. It is not a fee. It is only touched if there is an approved damage or loss claim, which the seller has to evidence.
When do I get my deposit back?
After you return the outfit and the seller completes their inspection within their inspection window. If the seller does not act, the order escalates rather than leaving your deposit held indefinitely.
When can I cancel, and do I get a refund?
You can cancel while the order is still in the confirmed stage. Once the seller marks it ready to ship, the order locks and can only be cancelled by the platform — for example if the courier flow fails. If the seller declines your booking, you are refunded in full.
What happens if the seller declines my booking?
The order is cancelled and refunded in full. You are never charged for a rental that did not happen.
Can I pay the seller directly to skip the fees?
No, and you should not. Paying outside RentNShine removes every protection at once: there is no held payment to refund, no deposit to release, no order record, and no claim route. If a seller asks you to pay off-platform, decline and report them.
Delivery and returns
How does the outfit reach me?
Either by courier, with a tracking number recorded against your order, or by local pickup from the seller where they offer it. Which options are available is shown on the listing before you book.
How do I track my delivery?
The carrier and tracking number are recorded on your order page as soon as the seller hands the parcel over, along with the shipment status as it moves from picked up through in transit and out for delivery.
How does local pickup work?
You collect the outfit from the seller in person. The handover is confirmed with a one-time code, so the outfit is only released to the person who actually booked it. The return handover uses a second code the same way.
How do I return the outfit?
Mark the return on your order page and send it back the way it came — courier, or in person if you collected it. The return leg is tracked on the order just like the outbound one, so there is a record of when it left you.
What if my delivery is late or does not arrive?
Raise it from the order page. Delivery failures are logged against the order and handled as a delivery dispute. Because your payment is still held by the platform at that point, a failed delivery does not leave you out of pocket while it is resolved.
What if the outfit arrives damaged?
Photograph it before you do anything else and report it from the order page the same day it arrives. Damage in transit is a recognised claim category and is assessed on that evidence.
Listing and selling
How do I start listing my outfits?
Create an account, complete your profile and contact verification, and add your first listing with your own photographs and real measurements. Our Seller Guidelines cover what a good listing looks like in detail.
Does it cost anything to list?
Listing is free. A commission is deducted from each completed order before payout; the rate that applies to your account is shown in your seller dashboard and governed by the Seller & Rental Agreement.
When do I get paid?
After the order completes — that is, the rental ends and the return inspection closes. Funds are held by the platform until then, which is what lets us honour refunds and dispute outcomes.
How quickly do I need to respond to a booking?
Quickly. A confirmed order is waiting on you to accept or decline, and renters are usually booking against a fixed event date. Once you mark an order ready to ship you have a 48-hour window to hand it to the courier — miss it and the system can cancel and refund automatically.
What if a renter damages or does not return my outfit?
File a damage claim on the order with condition photographs from before dispatch and after return, plus a realistic repair cost. It is reviewed against the renter’s response and settled against the security deposit. Ordinary wear from one wearing is not a claim.
Can I set my own preparation time between bookings?
Yes. The default buffer is 5 days either side of a booking. If your cleaning turnaround is slower, set a longer window rather than accepting dates you cannot meet.
Account, privacy and safety
Do I need an account to browse?
No. You can browse listings freely. You need an account to book, to message a seller, or to list your own outfits.
How do I contact a seller?
Through in-app chat on the listing or order. Keeping the conversation on the platform means support can see what was actually agreed if a dispute comes up later.
How is my personal information handled?
Contact and address details are shared with the other party only to the extent an order requires it, for delivery or pickup. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
How do I report a user or a listing?
Report it from the order or listing page, or email us at info@rentnshine.com. Reports about counterfeits, safety, and attempts to move payment off-platform are the ones we act on fastest.
Which cities do you serve?
RentNShine operates across Pakistan. What is actually available to you depends on the sellers listing in or shipping to your city, and local pickup is naturally limited to the seller’s own city.
